It shouldn't come as a surprise that all I wanted to do on my birthday was eat. Days before today, I'd scrolled for what seemed like hours on Instagram to find a 20-year-old worthy place to dine. In my mind, twenty means chic dining. Don't get me wrong, I'll always be down for a pick-me-up cookout tray or a 10-piece from American Deli, but I want more. I came across the page for Proper Bagel and was immediately enamored. Their interior caught my instantly. Chic and minimal...... can you say bougie? Nonetheless, I was ready to eat. I decided to bring my younger sister Abigail along for my stop because honestly what's better than wannabe bougie-bagel-eating sisters?
After arriving at the shop, quaintly located near Belmont University, we were welcomed by mega friendly staff. Seriously, everyone was eager to make sure that we had the best time ever. From aiding us in finding a parking spot, to allowing us to sample any of their gourmet cream cheeses, and offering customized tea to make up for their lack of matcha: The Proper Bagel staff was efficient, kind, and more than welcoming.
After googly-eyeing their array of cream cheese, fish, baked goods, and of course bagels, we decided to order a bagel with lavender honey cream cheese and a bowl of their rosewater greek yogurt and granola.
The food was phenomenal! I swear I'm not exaggerating. Never before had I imagined that rosewater yogurt would be my new obsession. As for Abigail, the world's most pickiest eater, it's safe to say that she felt the same amount of love as myself. She completely devoured her bagel! While my father often calls me extra for constantly finding random places to eat, I'm more than proud of myself for exposing my little sister to more. On a health tip, I hate seeing my siblings go wild for junk food when there's more than enough healthier options available. Following this trip, I hope that Abigail will dream of all the lavender honey cream cheese that is obtainable.
For my Nashville readers, give Proper Bagel a try. You won't be sorry.
